Stewardship of Time:
Balancing Time as Husbands, Fathers, and Men
We are called to be wise stewards of our time, honouring God in all we do. Cherish the gift of time by prioritising what truly matters — faith, family, service, spiritual and personal growth. Live with purpose and clarity, making every moment count.
Key Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-17
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Other Scriptures: Psalm 90:12 | Ecclesiastes 3:1

as Year Succeeds to Year
By
Arthur Campbell Ainger | 1894
1: God is working His purpose out
As year succeeds to year;
God is working his purpose out,
And the time is drawing near;
Nearer and nearer draws the time,
The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
2: From utmost east to utmost west,
Where'er man's foot hath trod,
By the mouth of many messengers
Goes forth the voice of God:
"Give ear to Me, ye continents,
Ye isles, give ear to Me,"
That the earth may be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
3: What can we do to work God's work,
To prosper and increase
The brotherhood of all mankind,
The reign of the Prince of Peace?
What can we do to hasten the time,
The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
4: March we forth in the strength of God,
With the banner of Christ unfurled,
That the light of the glorious Gospel of truth
May shine throughout the world;
Fight we the fight with sorrow and sin
To set their captives free,
That the earth may be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
5: All we can do is nothing worth
Unless God blesses the deed;
Vainly we hope for the harvest-tide
Till God gives life to the seed;
Yet near and nearer draws the time,
The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
Exhortation
- Time with Family: Our relationships with our wives and children are a sacred trust. Taking time to nurture these relationships through quality time, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences is essential. As it says in Ephesians 6:4, “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Investing time in our families strengthens our bonds and reflects God’s love.
- Time in the Word and Prayer: Our spiritual growth and relationship with God are foundational to all aspects of our lives. Dedicating time to studying the Scriptures and seeking God in prayer is crucial for our spiritual well-being. As Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Let us prioritise daily moments of communion with God to align our hearts with His will.
- Time for Rest and Renewal: Just as God instituted the Sabbath, we need regular intervals of rest and renewal. Exodus 20:8-10 teaches us to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy, emphasising the importance of rest. Taking time to recharge physically, mentally, and spiritually enables us to serve God and others more effectively.
- Time for Service and Community: God calls us to serve others and build up the community of believers. Galatians 6:9-10 encourages us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Engaging in acts of service and fellowship strengthens the body of Christ and reflects His love to the world.
- Time for Personal Development: God has given us talents and abilities to develop and use for His glory. Let us invest time in personal growth, whether through learning new skills, pursuing our passions, or engaging in activities that foster our well-being. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.”
