What a Friend We Have in Jesus

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge--
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.

Exhortation

As men, husbands, and fathers, we hold a pivotal role in guiding our families in faith and unity through prayer. The Bible teaches us in Joshua 24:15, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” This declaration is a powerful reminder of our responsibility to lead our families in spiritual devotion. When we gather in prayer, we invite the Lord’s presence into our homes, as promised in Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

By establishing a routine of family prayer, we nurture a strong foundation of faith and support, creating a loving and spiritually enriched environment to guide us through life’s challenges with unwavering faith and love. Let us embrace our roles with grace and commitment, ensuring that prayer becomes the cornerstone of our family’s spiritual journey.

Moreover, Colossians 3:16 encourages us to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one another with wisdom. As we lead our families in prayer and devotion, we foster an atmosphere where spiritual growth thrives and each member feels valued and heard. This collective prayer time becomes a sanctuary where we share our hopes, burdens, and gratitude, strengthening our bonds and reliance on God. Let’s commit to this sacred duty, creating a lasting legacy of faith, love, and unity in our homes.

As we lead our families in prayer, may we continually seek God’s wisdom and strength, fostering a legacy of faith that will uplift and inspire future generations.
