Reconnecting Purpose

A Call to Intentional, Christ-Centred Living in 2026

Reconnecting Purpose is a call for men to begin 2026 by intentionally aligning their lives with who they are in Christ — not just as individuals, but as leaders, husbands, and fathers. This isn’t about making trendy resolutions or chasing quick wins, but about returning to the foundation of godly manhood with clarity and commitment. In a world full of noise and distraction, this is the year to build deliberately, with purpose and from purpose. Let’s do this together!

Key Scripture: Psalm 127:1

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

Other Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 13:5; 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

Exhortation

There’s no doubt that the idea of New Year’s resolutions has been overused, criticised, and even mocked, and rightly so in some ways. Many people begin the year with grand goals only to abandon them within weeks. But one thing the season itself still does well is that it makes people pause. Whether or not resolutions last, this time of year naturally invites self-evaluation — a moment to reflect, to look back and forward, to ask: Where am I? Where am I going? What am I building? And that, in itself, is not a bad thing. In fact, it’s something Scripture encourages: “Examine yourselves…” (2 Corinthians 13:5). So, this is not a message about whether to make or avoid resolutions , but a call to intentional re-evaluation, and a reminder of who we are in Christ as men, leaders, husbands, and fathers, and an encouragement to stay on it, in season and out of season.

As men, we build by default. With every word, decision, or habit, we’re building something, be it a reputation, a rhythm, a legacy, or a home. The real question is: Are we building with the end in mind? Are we living as if our days have weight, our example has impact, and our choices echo into eternity? Psalm 127:1 warns us: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” So, we must ask not only what we’re building, but whose blueprint we’re using, because, the man who builds with the end in mind doesn’t chase every opportunity, but chooses what aligns with his God-given purpose.

This year, don’t just react to lifelead through it. Lead your thoughts. Lead your time. Lead your home. Lead with quiet strength and spiritual clarity. That means, saying no to busyness without purpose, to habits that quietly drain you, and to anything that makes you forget who you are in Christ. As a husband, this is the year to pursue your wife again with intentionality. As a father, this is the year to be present, not just providing. As a man, this is the year to re-anchor your identity — not in your performance, your job, or your image, but in the God who calls you His son.

There will be highs and lows in 2026; of that we can be sure. But intentional men don’t drift; they decide. They don’t wait for life to settle down before they live with purpose. They plant, prune, and build, because they know that what they sow today shapes what they and their families will reap tomorrow. This isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about taking responsibility for your direction, and trusting God for the strength to keep walking when it gets hard.

So, brothers, build this year with the end in mind. Reconnect with your purpose. Recommit to the things that matter most. Start where you are, not out of pressure, but out of clarity. You are a man, a leader, a husband, and a father, not because life made you one, but because God entrusted you with that role. And as you step into 2026, let Him build the house, so your labour will not be in vain.

When you think about one area of your life where you’d love to intentionally reconnect with God’s purpose — whether as a man, husband, father, or leader — what could the fruit of that look like if it truly happened? How would it impact you, your home, and those around you?

Let that encourage you.

Take some time this week to reflect on and pray about where you are spiritually, emotionally, and practically as a man of God. Take note of areas where you sense God calling you to realign with your purpose, and pray about intentional actions you’ll take in each area as the year goes by.

Lord, help me to see clearly where I’ve drifted from the purpose You’ve given me. Give me strength and discipline to live with intention in 2026, as a man, a leader, a husband, and a father. Let my life this year be built on Your design, not my own distraction. Let my life bring glory to your name.
